Visual Storytelling through the art
of the Micmac Indian Craftsmen
In the 1960s, the Micmac Indian Craftsmen (MIC), a small community workshop in Big Cove, New Brunswick, brought Indigenous creativity into the public imagination with innovative works rooted in Mi’kmaw culture. Through hands-on activities inspired by MIC design and storytelling practices, this guide encourages students to explore how art communicates and preserves knowledge traditions across generations.
