This talk will give a behind-the-scenes exclusive look at Toronto’s newly opened Lassonde Art Trail (LAT), an open-air museum expected to draw over a million visitors annually. LAT eliminates institutional barriers to contemporary art with its dynamic mix of 17 permanent and rotating sculptures, including this fall’s unveiling of Kent Monkman’s first public art commission The Colony, which marks an important new direction in his practice. Learn how LAT is bringing a sense of playfulness and physical interaction to public art and changing Canada’s cultural landscape.
