About
Inuit art is seldom part of the contemporary art canon. Shuvinai Ashoona’s work breaks this rule, and it has been exhibited internationally, including in Switzerland and Australia. This talk, featuring Nancy Campbell, author of the new book Shuvinai Ashoona: Life & Work in conversation with Sara Angel, director of the Art Canada Institute, investigates the remarkable trajectory of this singular artist.
Featuring
Nancy Campbell
Campbell has been an independent curator of contemporary and Inuit art since 1993, working for institutions including The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto and the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre at the University of Guelph. She holds a Masters of Arts from the University of British Columbia and is currently a PhD candidate at York University.
